Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Clapham Carpet Cleaning is committed to conducting business in a responsible and ethical manner. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, forced labour, and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers who work with or on behalf of Clapham Carpet Cleaning.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We operate a clear and strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept any practice that exploits people, infringes on their basic human rights, or involves coercion, deception, or abuse of vulnerability. This applies to our own activities and to every part of our supply chain, from cleaning products and equipment to support services.
All managers and staff are required to act with integrity and to take responsibility for upholding this policy in their daily activities. Any action or omission that may contribute to modern slavery is considered a serious breach of our standards and may result in disciplinary action or termination of contracts.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Clapham Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations involve directly employed staff, occasional agency workers, and a network of suppliers that provide cleaning products, machinery, uniforms, and other business services.
We recognise that risks associated with modern slavery can arise at different points in the supply chain, particularly where products are manufactured, packaged, or transported. We therefore take a risk-based approach to the assessment and management of our suppliers to help ensure ethical and lawful working practices.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We expect all suppliers to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to comply with all relevant legislation in the countries in which they operate. Before entering into new supplier relationships, we conduct proportionate due diligence to assess the supplier's labour practices, reputation, and adherence to human rights principles.
Where we identify higher-risk categories of goods or services, we may implement additional checks, which can include requesting evidence of labour standards policies, obtaining declarations of compliance, or conducting on-site visits. We reserve the right to audit suppliers, either directly or through third-party auditors, to verify that they meet our expectations.
If a supplier is found to be involved in, or associated with, modern slavery, we will seek immediate corrective action. Where appropriate, we will suspend or terminate the relationship if the issues cannot be remedied in a timely and satisfactory manner.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff. Relevant employees receive guidance on identifying indicators of forced labour and human trafficking and on the procedures to follow if they have concerns.
We reinforce these expectations through our internal policies, including those covering recruitment, working conditions, health and safety, and whistleblowing. We do not charge recruitment fees and we ensure that employment terms are transparent, fair, and freely agreed.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to speak up if they suspect any form of modern slavery or unethical labour practice connected to our business or supply chains. Reports can be made confidentially to line managers or senior management. Individuals are also encouraged to raise concerns through any internal whistleblowing mechanisms or through appropriate external authorities where necessary.
We treat all concerns seriously and investigate them promptly and sensitively. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated after investigation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that the fight against modern slavery requires continuous vigilance and improvement. We regularly review our processes and controls to strengthen our ability to identify and address risks. This includes monitoring developments in legislation, guidance, and best practice related to modern slavery and human rights.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with our business activities and values. Any necessary updates will be approved at the highest appropriate level and communicated to employees and suppliers.
Approval of This Statement
This statement has been approved by the management of Clapham Carpet Cleaning, who take overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with our modern slavery commitments throughout the business and supply chains.
